For Sale – Elm Hollow’s Makenzie, AHCA # 68153

A beautiful heifer to start or grow your fold.

Makenzie has been alert and playful since the minute she broke free of her mother’s body on November 8, 2023. She had the zoomies and was running circles around Nocturne after her first meal. I think I heard Nocturne whispering to another cow that she was open to trading calves with her if this young’un doesn’t settle down soon.

We find that the feistier they are on day one, the sweeter they become during halter training. Makenzie is no exception. Makenzie’s dam, LEA Nocturne, AHCA # 56653, is gentle, has wonderful maternal instincts, and is a structurally correct cow.

As is common with Highland calves, Makenzie has changed color some as she has grown. I love her blond highlights! Makenzie would be a great first Highland for someone or make a wonderful addition to any fold. It appears that she will be a mid to smaller sized Highland and will be easy to handle.

As with any Highland calf, Makenzie will need a companion, either another heifer or a gentle steer.

What next?

If you are interested in participating in Makenzie’s sale, please email me at [email protected] and tell me that you will be bidding on Makenzie so I can create an email list of bidders before we begin her sale.

You may submit your opening bid at this time if you wish, but you don’t have to make a bid at this time to be included in the sale. This is like a slow paced auction where you can ask questions about the calf and have time to think before you bid.

I’ll be asking you some questions before the sale begins to see if there might be a calf coming up that I think might be a better fit for you. Feel free to ask me questions as well. We’ll have a total of 19 calves available during this summer and fall.

Makenzie is available for a minimum opening bid of $6,500. The sale is Monday, June 24, 6:00 pm Eastern Time.

Update: Makenzie sold for $9,250.

WKA Braxton Highland Bull
Makenzie’s structure is a combination of her lovely mother and her handsome sire, WKA Braxton, AHCA # 59691. She is quite feminine looking and it appears she will be one of our smaller girls.
LEA Nocturne

Nocturne is a third generation impact dam with her grand dam being and elite impact dam. Makenzie’s grandsire is an impact sire, so she is likely to become a very prolific cow.
