For Sale – Elm Hollow’s Nancy, AHCA # 68185

Our smallest heifer this year

Born on January 16, 2024, Nancy was Elm Hollow’s New Year’s baby. She only missed my birthdate by two days and her mother, Janie of Legacy, has the same name as my older sister. Since 2024 is the “N” year for Highlands, I just had to name her after myself. She has had a bit of an attitude from the start, but during halter training, she became our little angel.

We don’t measure the height of our cows or calves because we don’t ever claim to sell miniatures, but this girl is little! Since she was the youngest calf in this class, she was a bit nervous at first and did some dancing around during the first couple of attempts at leading, so we started calling her Tiny Dancer. The name stuck, but she leads quite calmly now.

Dancer has picked out her sweet steer companion, EH Mo Tharbh Beag (My Little Bull in Gaelic) We call him Mo. Dancer calls him her boyfriend. We normally sell our steers for $2500 to people looking for pets and 4H projects, but if he goes as this heifer’s companion, his price will be reduced to $2000 and there will be no need to make bids on him.

What next?

If you are interested in participating in Nancy’s sale, please email me at [email protected] and tell me that you will be bidding on Nancy so I can create an email list of bidders before we begin her sale.

You may submit your opening bid at this time if you wish, but you don’t have to make a bid at this time to be included in the sale. This is like a slow paced auction where you can ask questions about the calf and have time to think before you bid.

I’ll be asking you some questions before the sale begins to see if there might be a calf coming up that I think might be a better fit for you. Feel free to ask me questions as well.

We’ll have two more heifer calves available this fall.

Nancy is available for a minimum opening bid of $6,500. The sale is Thursday, August 22, 6:00 pm Eastern Time.

Update: Nancy sold for $8,600 with her companion, Mo, for $2,000.
