For Sale – Elm Hollow’s Nicholas, AHCA # pending

A gentle, color-tested brindle bull calf for your fold.

Sometimes you just get lucky. Christmas day 2024 was one of those days for Elm Hollow Farm. Not one, but two fabulous bull calves were born here that day.

We were so excited to see that our efforts at AI had indeed paid off!

Nicholas (AKA St. Nick) showed promise from the get-go. He has grown with proper proportions the entire time without going through that gangly, leggy period most calves seem to suffer through. While he was never the rambunctious calf, he’s always been accepted by all the other calves and cows. I think we have his dam to thank for that. She was almost a helicopter mom, at least at first. When she did allow him to mingle with the other calves, she kept a close eye on him and called him back if things got rowdy. It was fun watching her being a parent. When weaning time came, Moire sent him willingly off to halter school.

Nick was the largest, but gentlest of the students and got straight A’s!

When it was time to dress for graduation, Nick held so still to have his adornments put in place.  I think he asked for a mirror, but I didn’t have one.
