ELM HOLLOW’S HERD SIRE PLACES 2nd IN CLASS IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION!
WKA Braxton, once again competed against top bulls from around the world and made us proud.

As a 4-year-old, Braxton was chosen the #1 bull in his class with fewer entries, now as a 6-year-old, with much stiffer competition, he was chosen second. As a 4-year-old, he competed only against other 4-year-olds.
Now at age 6, he is younger than most of his competition, which includes 6-, 7-, 8-, and 9-year old bulls. Braxton is not just a pretty face around here. He is also a very hard working guy in our pastures.
We used AI this year to produce about half of our next year’s calf crop, and Braxton took care of the rest. Looking forward to calves from: Dawson Arrow of Macanleister, LSR Orion, TOG13Z, and of course, Braxton.

Can hardly wait for the first calves to appear in Early February.
The AI line up for next year will include these three and: Big Ridge Magic’s Lad, Zeus of Swains, Top Gun of Mapleview, and maybe a rare surprise or two!
Elm Hollow is Finally Getting An Office!
We are busy working on having this much needed facility ready in time for spring calving.

Available Calves
There are still a few calves available in our classified ads. If you watched or attended the auctions in the last couple of weeks, you will appreciate the reasonable prices so click here to visit our classifieds page.
These ads really do get results! In fact, one seller read the ad we created for a calf he submitted to our page and decided that was just the addition needed for their fold. Since we don’t have a stamp that says, “Too Good to Sell,” “Retained by Seller,” or “It’s Complicated,” that one is just marked as sold.
I really can’t believe that Maximus hasn’t been snatched right up! I saw a lesser bull sell for almost twice the asking price of this handsome lad at one of the auctions!

If you’re looking for a beautiful dun bull, Metallica of Wandering Rose is a lovely one-year-old. He can certainly lighten up the colors of your next year’s calves! Although Metallica was not halter trained, he is not at all aggressive.

A little more mature, but very handsome and looking for work is Rebel. His yellow color can add some variety and his gentle temper makes handling your bull an easy task.

If you have AHCA registered highlands for sale, and would like to place an ad with us, it is easy to do, click here to learn how.
Although there will be an advertising fee for using the classifieds on the Elm Hollow Farm website, there will be no commission fee based on the sale price of an animal that is sold on the page. You might wonder if the ads produced from the information you submit about your available cows or calves is really effective on a classifieds page. This is what happened with one of those ads:
The seller submitted the written information and a couple of photos. When I looked at the photos, I asked if it would be possible to take some more recent pictures with less distraction in the background. Those photos were much better. I did my research on the ancestry of the calf and created the ad. When the seller saw the proof and realized how nice the calf really is, the decision was made to keep it! Needless to say you will no longer see that entry for sale on the page.
Currently, we are accepting only AHCA registered stock on our classifieds page with one exception. Some breeders choose not to register bull calves that will be steered and sold as pets or companion animals for heifers they are selling. If a pure-bred Highland has a U number (unregistered) we will gladly create and post an ad for that calf.
A classifieds page provides the following services:
- FOR SELLERS: A very accessible place to advertise your registered calves for sale. If you google Highland Cattle for sale, you will see that Elm Hollow farm is among the top 10 sites on that search and is the only actual seller of cattle.
- FOR SELLERS: A guide to taking effective photos for selling your cattle.
- FOR SELLERS: A guide for sellers of questions to ask prospective buyers so they can determine if the home seems suitable for their calf/cow.
- FOR SELLERS: The construction of your ad including your comments about your cattle, (temperament, expected size, stage of halter training if any, etc.)
- FOR BUYERS: A guide for buyers to help them determine what they need to provide good care for a Highland and what type calf/cow will meet their needs.
- FOR BUYERS: A place where sellers have been screened to weed out scammers. Be aware that some scammers are very clever and there is a possibility that one might fool me, but I’ll be doing my best to make sure every offering on this site is legitimate. The ultimate decision to purchase will be the responsibility of the buyer.
- FOR BOTH SELLERS AND BUYERS: I am doing more frequent newsletters with the option for sellers to have their new classified listings mentioned with one photo, brief description, registration number and contact information listed in the newsletter for $10.00, with a free mention of new additions during the month.
