The National Stock Show in Denver will be an annual trip! It was a truly wonderful experience to see so many highland friends.
This year we were priveleged to watch one of Elm Hollow’s calves in the show ring. Kaitlyn bought EH Gwyndolin in August and had her ready for the Junior National show in January! Gwyndolin attracted a lot of attention with her unusual coloring and Kaitlyn did an excellent job showing her.
Of course, we could not leave the national stock show without attending the Highland auction. Try as we did to contain ourselves, when CSF Honeysuckle stepped into the ring, my hand just kept flying up every time someone else bid on her.
Then when the auctioneer pointed to me as the winning bidder, I realized the airlines probably would not let me bring my support cow on the plane. Trinity Farm came to our rescue and welcomed Honeysuckle for a visit until the stock hauler could bring our beautiful girl to Tennessee.
Thank you Jamie and Jesse Silva!
Bear and Winnie, who had lead the fold here since Elm Hollow was first established, have moved on to a beautiful farm in middle TN to lead a new fold of Highlands there. The goodbyes were tearful, but both farms will benefit from the change. Meanwhile, Elm Hollow welcomes a visiting bull, Red Road’s Rufus, who brought along his lead cow and three of their daughters. A very classy addition to the Elm Hollow fold.
Be watching the cattle for sale page as we continue to refine our breeding program. It will be so hard to part with some of our favorite coos, but we can’t keep them all. This year we will have several beautiful bred cows for sale as we refine to represent a more “Scottish Look”.
Currently, we have some sweet heifers for sale also, simply because we have too many!
